It was about eight thirty at night as my companion Elder Brown and I walked down Broadway in Denver, Colorado. We were talking to the all the different people and seeing all of the crazy stuff that happens on Broadway, when we heard some people yelling from across the street. We saw one guy yelling and getting really angry with another man who was talking back to him, but he seemed to be remaining pretty calm. The bus came and the guy who was getting really mad got forced onto it. Seeing this, I told myself that we should not go over to that area tonight and should take a different route home.
As we walked around and met other interesting people, that thought left my mind. I remember looking up and seeing this man standing there. My body told me to run, run as fast as I could across the street to get away, but we kept walking. As we got closer, he started to approach us and he started talking. You could tell he wasn't all there and something was wrong with him, that he was probably drunk and drugged out. He got right in my companion’s face and started talking to him saying that he wanted to come with us. I just kept walking not looking at him or talking to him. My companion told him no, but he kept following us and kept asking. I then turned around and said loudly “NO you cannot come with us”. He didn't like that very much and he got angry with me. He yelled at me, punched me in the arm, and said some profanities. At this time, my companion wrapped his arms around him, pulled him away, sat him down on a fountain, and started teaching him about the Plan of Salvation. I walked over and sat down. He started to apologize and gave me a hug. Then he started to lean back towards the water in the fountain and tried pulling me in. My companion pulled him off and we started to walk away. He got on his knees and started to beg to let him come with us. Elder Brown looked at me and said “crap Elder we gotta get outta here” as we booked it home.
